New iPhone app lets the baby pick his own name!

Someone invented an iPhone app that lets your baby pick its own name!  With the app“Kick to Pick" , if you place the phone by your pregnant belly, when the baby kicks, the vibration triggers the app to reveal a name! How innovative! Now you don't have to deal with angst-filled teenagers telling you how much they hate the name you gave them because you can say, hey I didn't give you that name, you did! LOL!

Couple attempts to raise gender-less baby

A UK couple , Kathy Witterick and her husband David Stocker, have decided to not tell anyone the sex of their baby in an attempt to raise him or her without a gender.  The couple's other children know the gender of their latest born, who is called Storm, but they say they want the child to elect his or her gender and not be swayed by societal standards and confinements.  So far, the child seems to prefer stereotypically girly things and many people say that is wrong because some signs indicate the child may be a boy. Biologically, the child is one gender or the other, but for purposes of procreating, interacting with other children, eventually, there will be implications on these liberal parents' decision.  They seem to be imposing their non-conventional dislike for societal norms on their child, but who are we to judge? It's their decision to raise their child they way they want, but my bet is the couple's other kids will spill the beans at some point. I also think by agreeing to be featured in international newspapers and have their child's face plastered on the world stage, they are also setting up themselves and their family for future harassment. It is one thing to limit that decision to your circle of friends and your world, but exposure like this may be asking for trouble.  Very interesting? Your thoughts? Is it that couple's right to raise their baby that way or are they setting up the child for confusion and future trouble? They don't live in a bubble, I'm sure they know, but is it our business to judge?

ENTRIES ARE IN: Vote your pick for the ugliest Baby Names

Celebrities can't have all the fun, giving their children odd, peculiar and eh hem "unconventional" baby names.  Now it is your turn!!

Since announcing the contest 10 days ago, we've gotten nearly 100 entrants in the Ugly Baby Name Contest.

Those submitting these names are vying for the top prize: $100 in cash to start baby's savings fund and $400 in prizes, listed HERE.

We couldn't pick ourselves off the floor laughing at some of these entries.  Honestly, we really could NOT believe the claims of those saying they knew real people or children with these names. Come on now, you really knew a mom to six kids who couldn't think of a sixth name and called her last "What Eva"?  Okay.  

And how about all of the hospital maternity nurses and teachers writing in to submit the actual names of REAL children!?! EEEK!

And then there were the duplicates.  There will have to be a raffle if any of these entries submitted by different people get picked:  Dorcas, Vagina, Candita, Placenta and the twins, Oranjello and Lemonjello.  Interestingly enough, those submitting the twins names both claim to personally know these twins. Hmmm. The curiouser and curiouser. Could there be more than one set of Oranjello and Lemonjello running around somewhere in this world?

I'm not sure how I feel about my  mother's name showing up on the list, though (*pout*).  And someone submitted the name of one of my best friend's ex-boyfriend, who also happens to be named for a 1960s cartoon character. Maybe that is a good thing.

Not to bias the competition but La-ah (pronounced la-dash-ah) stood out, as did Sealy Posturpedy'Lily (named for the mattress the girl was conceived on and her mom's favorite flower).  

We can't lie, Unidastasovamerikaliqua, a girl named after the United States of America, was a gem. 

Snottyboogarragg, Zorkinbooble, Rumdidit,  and Fubcuss Flubberfongerling get quality points for originality.

Top 10 Signs you might be a snobby mom

We've all heard of the funny line of jokes "You might be a redneck if..." and "You might be ghetto if..." I was at the park the other day checking my Twitter feed while my kids ran wild and free and I started thinking how much this was a no no.   I randomly started thinking of what would go in a "You might be a snobby mom if..." post.

Upcoming 'Kardashians' reveals 15-year old Kendal Jenner on birth control

Previews for the upcoming season of ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ have created a stir.  One episode will feature Bruce Jenner, the father of Kendal Jenner, finding her birth control pills.  Kendall Jenner is the younger sister of reality mogul Kim Kardashian.  Both Kendall and Bruce have had significant roles in the show dating back to 2007.

After the commercial aired, sister Khloe Kardashian confirmed that the 15-year old model was indeed taking the pill.  Khloe however indicated that the reasons for use were not due to sexual activity.

Kendall was signed on as a model at the young at of 13 with Wilhemina Models.  Since then she has appeared in several widely publicized national campaigns and has been the focus of controversy due to a number of racy photos published online and in magazines.  The teenage reality star has continually expressed interest in following in her sister’s footsteps and has wasted no time in making a name for herself in Hollywood.  Whether father and former Olympic gold medalist Bruce is onboard, is another story.

Her mother, Kris Jenner refused to comment on the birth control discussion as she simply urged viewers to tune in stating “You’ll have to wait and see.”

Miracle baby beats odds, born outside the uterus

Medical News Today is reporting:

Nicolette Soto, 27, whose fetus developed outside her uterus surrounded by a thin wall of membrane and muscle, gave birth in Arizona after 32 weeks of pregnancy to a 2 pound 14 ounce baby at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. Doctors wonder whether this has ever happened before.

The baby developed just next to the mother's uterus, but outside it. The placenta had not attached properly and eventually attached to the outside of the uterine wall. Doctors said that removing it was much easier than they had expected. In case of complications, a team of experts in urology, trauma and radiology, as well as a vascular surgeon were on standby - fortunately, their services were not required. 

Ms. Soto was warned by doctors that having a baby develop outside the uterus was life-threatening for both her and her baby. However, according to boyfriend, Victor Perfecto, she made it clear that she wanted to see the pregnancy through to the end.

Azelan Cruz cruz was born last Monday.

The embryo had attached itself to where the fallopian tube meets the uterus, the medical team explained - a cornual pregnancy. In most cases the tube ruptures and the pregnancy ends around the 12-14th week.

Ana Ortiz is Pregnant with second child

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --Congratulations are in order for Ana Ortiz – the actress is six months pregnant with her second child.

“We know it’s a boy,” Ana revealed in an E-mail to Latina.com on Thursday evening of her second impending arrival with husband Noah Lebenzon. “[We] are trying to come up with some names that we can agree on.

The former “Ugly Betty” star said she wants to choose a baby name that will reflect her heritage.

“It has to be Spanish,” she wrote. “But something non-speakers can pronounce without mauling.”

Additionally, the 40-year-old actress, who recently inked a multi-episode deal to guest star on HBO’s “Hung” alongside sexy series star Thomas Jane, said her pregnancy will not disrupt her new character’s storyline.

“They are shooting around it,” Ana explained, adding that she has filmed five episodes of the comedy so far. “It’s been an interesting journey.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Ana married musician Noah Lebenzon in June 2007.

Zazzle is one of those sites that lets anyone become a merchant and slap a logo on mugs, T's, hats bags etc. After the uproar over the listing, the merchant selling this above listing removed the onesie option, however, it is STILL available in little girl sizes. Want to spark a conversation on the playground? This would do it. Anyway, the T-shirt sparked notoriety after it was discussed on Huffington Post this month.

Pregnant inmates no longer have to be handcuffed during delivery

 

Well thank God for good senses, check out this story reporeted in Boston.com:

Pregnant inmates in Rhode Island prisons could no longer be handcuffed or shackled during childbirth under legislation passed by the state House of Representatives Wednesday.

The legislation would prohibit the use of handcuffs, shackles or waist restraints during childbirth. Only the least restrictive restraints could be used during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, and medical staff could decide whether restraints should be removed. Exceptions could be made for inmates who pose a serious safety threat or flight risk.

The House passed the bill 48-16. The Senate has already passed an identical bill. Once both chambers finalize the bill it will head to Gov. Lincoln Chafee, an independent.

The House bill's sponsor, Rep. Donna Walsh, D-Charlestown, said her proposal is intended to prevent unnecessary harm to pregnant women and their unborn children. She called it a "humane" measure that recognizes pregnant prisoners present little threat.

"The top thing on her mind is not getting away, it's getting to the hospital," she said. "Ask a pregnant woman how fast she can run." Read More at Boston.com
