ER's Dr. Neela, Parminder Nagra's Baby is due this summer 2009.

Singer Kelis and her husband, rapper Nas were spotted recently shopping at Pottery Barn for kids for baby furniture (above) and the next day leaving Mr. Chow's restaurant. The couple are expecting their first child, a baby boy, at the end of the year. source

What's GG Up to These Days!?

GG is still very much rough and tumble. Loves being tossed in the air and rough play.

She is your quintessential tomboy. Loves climbing on things. Fearless. Brave. Confident.

These days she loves to spin and twirl around and around until she gets dizzy and falls down.

Erasers are her favorite delectable these days. I can't let her get her tiny mits on a pencil and its Off with the ERASER in 2.4 seconds flat. I have to scramble to pull the tiny rubber pieces out of her mouth when I catch her. Otherwise, its poop-filled erasers for us.

She loves to talk and chat. This I am finding is a very girly thing to do because girls are very vocal. (though her brother, the middle child, is quite a talker now)

I am also very happy to see that she enjoys books, especially pretend reading!!! woo hoo!

How to Teach Your Baby How to Count & the Alphabet

neat thing I spied from eHow.com:

Things You’ll Need:

Index Cards
Colored Pencils
A Black Marker
A CD With Classical Music
Different Colored Toys
Food With Different Tastes (ex: Sweet, Salty, Sour)
Yourself

Step1

Draw the letter of the alphabet and numbers 1-10 on your index cards using different colors and outline them in black.

You can also draw pictures and decorate with ribbon, sparkles or anything your creative mind can think of...

Step2

Play the classical music, in a low but audible volume in the background while your baby plays.

(The music is mathematical and will sooth and keep your baby calm and the chances of your baby becoming irritable will be slim.)

Line up toys in front of them with your new flash cards in hand.

Step3

Each toy your baby picks up show them the letter that the toy starts with and the number of how many of those toys he/she has.

* If you have drawn pictures on your flash cards; show the picture of the toy your baby is holding and slowly and loudly say the name of the toy.

Tips & Warnings

The music in the background triggers your baby's senses, so use it every time you do this exercise with your baby.
Give your baby a special treat after you're done playing with them; the snack, this will show your baby the rewards of learning, soon they will want to do it more and more.
Keep it bright! A brightly colored flash card will grab your baby's attention and a well lighted room will make it easy for them to see.
Keep your voice high and loud. This will keep your baby's attention on you while you are speaking.
Reward them when they get something wrong. Remember, this is a baby and even though they don't get it right away you should show them they are doing a good job trying. NEVER punish your baby for getting something wrong!

Celebrity Round Up: Preggers & Recent Birth Report

This past December, Jermaine denied reports that Janet was pregnant, as Bellyitch reported.

Guess we were also wrong, as previously reported, unless Mariah and Nick suffered a miscarriage (which is very likely) she and Nick are not expecting.

Usmagazine.com had pics of Mariah and Nick drinking red wine, and eating oysters - things a pregnant woman should not be doing while in St. Bart's in January.

With their advanced maternal age, it is possible that they both may have had losses. Who knows.

Rapper Taboo, of the Black Eyed Peas is going to have some new material very soon - he is going to be a dad again! He and his new bride, Jaymie Dizon, are expecting their first child together, he confirmed exclusively to Usmagazine.com.

“We’re very excited,” he told Us. The baby is due later this summer. No details regarding the baby’s sex were revealed yet, but the couple may not know this information yet, either.

The 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jaime Gomez, and Jaymie married last July in Pasadena, California. Taboo is not new to the daddy game, however. He has a 15-year-old son, Joshua, from a previous relationship.

Soca Superstar Fay Ann Lyons Gave Birth

Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez has given birth to a baby girl.

Minutes after noon on Saturday, the four-crown 2009 "
Soca Queen"-Soca Monarch, Groovy Monarch, People's Choice
and Road March-successfully gave birth to her firstborn at the
Mount Hope Maternity Hospital via caesarean section.

"Bunji Garlin" Alvarez missed the greatest show of his wife's life,
only managing to arrive at her bedside later in the evening from Tobago where he had gone to fulfill contractual obligations.

In the days leading up to the birth, both parents had said they did not know the gender of the baby. But there was some indication when, during Lyons-Alvarez's winning performances at the Soca Monarch finals last weekend, she placed the microphone to her belly, and a digitally-created voice of a baby was heard chanting that (she, the baby) and her mommy were putting a lyrical beating on Bunji.

Lyons-Alvarez was admitted to the hospital on Friday, suffering from pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia usually results in the swelling of the feet, hands and the face. Ten per cent of women experiencing their first pregnancy may develop this condition, and studies have indicated that this is often very dangerous for mother and child, but especially so for the mother.

Well its official, Fay-Ann had her baby!
SOCA’S ROYAL couple, Ian “Bunji Garlin” Alvarez and his wife Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez are now parents of a baby girl, as Fay-Ann gave birth yesterday afternoon at the Mount Hope Women’s Hospital.
Up to late yesterday Fay-Ann, winner of this year’s Soca Monarch and Road March competitions, and her newborn babe were said to be resting comfortably at hospital with Alvarez by their side.

Sunday Newsday was told by a medical source that Fay-Ann gave birth via C-section given the fact that her blood pressure was high. The baby came shortly after midday and Alvarez was there at hospital to witness it.

Fay-Ann is currently warded in Room 106 of the hospital under tight security. Sunday Newsday was reliably informed that there was a security guard stationed outside her room door and two additional guards on the floor. Security at the hospital was also beefed up. Persons visiting mothers at the hospital were asked to produce their national identification card as well as state the name of the mother they were visiting. When this was done the security officer double- checked a listing in which all warded mothers’ names were printed.

The source said that Fay-Ann was closely being monitored, “Mrs Alvarez experienced some minor complications but it is not life threatening. It is just normal for us to keep her in close watch.”

Speaking with Newsday yesterday via cellphone Alvarez’s manager, Ian Pantin, confirmed that Fay-Ann had a C-section. He also assured that mother and baby were in “fine condition”.
When asked if the couple had given their first daughter a name, Pantin replied: “That will be Bunji’s or Fay-Ann’s decision to disclose that right now. It will also be their call whether they want to meet with the media right now or later on at probably a press conference.”
On Friday at about 7 pm Alvarez dropped off Fay-Ann at the hospital for what he claimed was for only observation purposes. Alvarez along with his band “The Asylum” then subsequently left Trinidad to perform at a show at Pigeon Point in Tobago. Alvarez returned to Trinidad yesterday morning where he made his way straight to the hospital to be with his wife.

Despite her pregnancy Fay-Ann chose this Carnival season to carry on with her duties as a soca artiste, performing in some of the country’s top Carnival fetes. She also entered various competitions making a clean sweep victory after copping the titles in the Groovy and Power Soca Monarch competition with her hits “Heavy-T Bumper” and “Meet Superblue” respectively. She won the People’s Choice Award as well.

She also copped the Road March title with her hit “Meet Superblue” making it her third time in winning the title.

In an exclusive interview with Newsday on Wednesday Fay-Ann expressed excitement in becoming a mother and assured that whatever she and Alvarez do from now on will be for the baby “because we were chosen by God to bring this child into the world.”
Several efforts to reach Alvarez for comment yesterday proved futile as all calls went unanswered.
