According to MSNBC: The makers of very popular strollers, Maclaren, is set to announce tomorrow a recall of 1 million umbrella strollers because of 12 injury reports, including reports of children's fingertips getting amputated after getting caught in a side hinge. EEEEK!!! If you have one of the recalled strollers, stop using it immediately for now!
The hinge in question is engaged whenever the stroller is opened or closed, the manufacturer will announce.
The recall is set to apply to all Maclaren strollers sold since 1999 .
The company, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is providing consumers and retailers free repair kits which will cover a joint on the umbrella stroller's hinge mechanism.

Omg, I saw this report the other day. How absolutely scary! I'm so glad I use a Graco stroller with DS - but to think I was considering a Maclaren stroller for the next babe because they're much more narrow/convenient for the NYC streets. Ummm, not so much! I'll stick with my big, bulky travel system.
