early walker

...So GG's bag of tricks these days involves hers pulling her self up to standing in her crib and on other objects.

Me thinks this baby is not content to crawling and is eager to skip that developmental phase altogether.

I'm going to try to get a picture of it next time I catch her standing in her crib.

Gosh these babies grow so fast!

------

in other GG news, I'm having "issues" with her caregiver these days and think I may be on the hunt for a new one. I really have to work on getting my mom to watch her full time! *sigh*

GG's First Romp in the Pool

GG got a chance this weekend to have her first foray in swimming pools...Yesterday, in a big baby pool....

And in a larger pool...And Friday, in an inflatable pool...With her brothers and cousin...Although, she was more interested in teething on the large green frog wading pool...
And I couldn't resist color coordinating with her terry cloth pool dress....Help! I am out of control!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha!

my baby, the trooper

poor GG is a champ at dealing with pain. Right now, she is suffering from the ache of having her bottom two teeth come in. I can cleary see and "feel" them now. owie! she bits.

She is also suffering from a pretty mean diaper rash she got just this week. Not sure how it just cropped up all of a sudden. I just noticed how severly inflamed it was today. I just got a couple tubes of A&D ointment and will instruct the babysitter to lather it on her after every change and remind her to not wait until a poopy diaper to changer her. I'm sure the poor child is itching like crazy.

AND she has two mosquito bites on her head that I know must itch like crazy. Our heavily wooded neighborhood is a maven for vicious mosquitoes! Everyone in our family has at least 3 bites at any given moment.

*sigh* babies are really really resilient, I am reminded because if I was sufferering through all that at the same time, I'd be one bitter B%&4/=3! ha!

weightloss wednesday: SUCCESS!!!

woo hoo! Thanks to a week of sleepless nights, stress and an increased running schedule. I'm 145lbs today, 5lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight of 140lbs ! yay! (Total loss so far since December 31, 2007=44lbs)

And I have at least 10lbs to go for my fab bikini body in time for my caribbean vacation this August. I'm excited and ready for the challenge and I think training for the Army 10Miler for this October will help.

I meet with my old trainer today and this Sunday, I'm traveling all the way to Baltimore for a killer aerobics class a friend of mine is leading. AYE! I think I'm ready. pray for me though, just in case.

the bradgelina twins are here

New sky and other sources are reporting...

The boy and girl were delivered by Caesarian section.

Dr Michel Sussmann said: "The parents and the babies are in excellent health. Everything is fine."

He said the C-section had been planned for a long time but the date was brought forward "for medical reasons".

The twins have been named Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline and were born at around 8pm on Saturday.

It is thought Jolie's partner, Brad Pitt, was by her side.

Knox Leon was reported to weigh five pounds while Vivienne Marcheline 5.02 pounds.
Jolie, who was admitted to hospital earlier this week, gave birth at the Santa Maria clinic of the Lenval Foundation in Nice.

The babies' first photograph is believed to have been sold to a US paper for $11m - but the money will go to charity.

Americans Jolie, 33, and Pitt, 44, moved into a 17th century villa in Provence earlier this year.

They have one biological daughter, Shiloh, who was delivered by Caesarean section two years ago in the African country of Namibia.
The couple are also parents to three adopted children - daughter Zahara from Ethiopia, son Pax from Vietnam and son Maddox from Cambodia.

what GG's eating at 6 months old

now that GG can sit unsupported for extended periods of time, we've been expanding her food repertoire.

She's graduated from simple fruits, veggies and cereals to stage 2 foods. Yup. the Girl is eating chicken and sweet potato and gnawing on steak. Yum. She took the transition easily. We give her Gerber's organic and Earth Best Organic baby food which are made with no growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, or potentially harmful pesticides and whole grains. So they say. If I had time, I'd love to make my own baby food. Alas *sigh* that is not an option for me given my crazy schedule. So this is the next best thing.

Since nothing compares to her breastmilk straight from the source, my GG is not too keen on drinking liquids from a bottle. Even after I switched from the very popular Avent bottle to Dr. Brown's and Playtex, she just wasn't/isn't that interested. She's annoyed the heck out of her babysitter because at 5pm on the dot, she starts to scream and cry nonstop until she either (a) falls asleep or (b) I arrive to nurse her after a hectic day working.

Alas, at 6 months old, GG is starting sippy cup training. The boys didnt get a sippy cup until one year so old girl here is a trailblazer.

GG is also digging her organic baby yogurt that Stonyfield Farms makes for babies. The Fruit and Cereal variety is her favorite.

Finally, these days GG is also thoroughly enjoying her Healthy Times Maple Biter Biscuit for Teethers. They are very hard and must feel good against her gums. Since three months I think, GG's been drooling, a sign of teething. We don't see any teeth buds there, but she sure is showing the signs. *grin* These things are wheat, soy, and dairy free so no worry about allergies.

0------
in other GG news, at her 6 month visit, she finally got her 4 months vaccinations she couldn't get because she was sick. I'm a bit concerned that there is still a hard lump on her thigh from the dose she got on her thighs. hmmmm. With all the talk about autism linked to vaccines, I was secretly happy that she's behind schedule.

Wherever we go, people either tell me they think she is too big or too small for her age. I suppose it depends if they are seeing her round chubby face and cheeks peering through a child seat or if she's resting on my hip or in my baby sling. Anyhoo, at her 6 month visit, they tell me she's in the 80% for height and 50% for weight. So she is tall and average weight.

yay! baby is THRIVING!

the best remedy for that child that always gets sick

so, one of my inlaws who is very much into holistic and homeopathic treatments for various ailments discovered this immunity boost syrup that she said cured her sickly grandaughter from being...well sickly.

When she learned that my youngest boy was always sick, she sent down from New York two bottles of the children's version (right) of this magic serum called Sambucol and instructed that I give him a spoonful each day. Not always an instant "believer" I was originally hesitant and gave it to him only spradically.

Then, this week, the boy just continued to cough non stop and even after taking him to the doctors, I was fed up that there was nothing the traditional doctors could give him or say to explain how or why he continues to get sick and absorb every single viral infection or other illness that passes thru his super germy day care center. We had tried the vapor patch, vapor plugs, the humidifier, cold and allergy medicine, but unfortunately none of those worked to cure him of his constant "sickliness".

FINALLY, at my wit's end, last week, I re-discoverd this stuff in my bathroom cabinet and threw caution to the wind and told myself, I will actually start giving him this stuff daily and voila! MIRACULOUSLY!

NO more cough. His nose is not running like a faucet as it used to. Already, in a a few days use I've notice the boy is much much better.

Hmmm... the label says the blend of all natural herbs and treatments is really based on Echinacea, a tried and true ingredient for maintaining immunity. And although the website advertises that the treatment is for winter months, for this 365 day ill child, I'll be using this stuff all year round and seeing how he fares.

I haven't tried it on GG yet, but will maybe introduce a small bit to her with her juice to see if it helps with her incessant upper respiratory wheezing which the pediatrician says is normal. :S yeah. *sigh*

But so far, this treatment is working on this child that is always sickly. The website says:

Since Sambucol® was introduced in 1992, it has become a trusted daily supplement in millions of homes worldwide. In the U.S., Sambucol® ranks among the top 10 herbal supplements on the market and has won an impressive array of health industry awards. More importantly, Sambucol® has also won numerous recommendations from leading medical experts.
hmmm. I'M a believer now!

Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey have baby too

Babyblog is reporting that OK magazine is reporting...whew...that Actor Matthew McConaughey and Brazillian model Camila Alves, 25, have welcomed their first child, a son. Levi Alves McConaughey was born on Monday, July 7th, at 6:22 p.m., weighing in at 7 lbs, 4 oz. In a statement, Matthew, 38, revealed,
A healthy baby boy was born. Camila and I were side-by-side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world — Having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure — raising one, together.
Releasing their son's name to OK!, Matthew explained that Levi is another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible, and shared that his birth time holds special significance as well.
Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: "If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light."
Levi's middle name is Camila's last, as "we wanted to incorporate her family name," stated Matthew.
The couple announced the pregnancy in January, sharing that they wanted a delivery surprise. The baby had been due in early July.

interesting choice of name. All of my children are named after biblical, Old Testament, figures. So my boy is a hunk and a bible reader. Cool beans!

That's gonna be one good looking kid!

celeb baby roundup

19 year old Paris Bennett from Season 5 of American Idol is knocked up. She has a ring and her baby daddy promises nuptials, says her mom, who also got pregnant as a teenager. Hope we don't see a repeat of the Brandy fiasco tho.

Wow! Lots of young moms these days, including quite a few in my immediate and extended family lately. Wishing Paris lots of luck.
------
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's daughter Suri apparently has a wardrobe valued around the $355,000 range, according to a celebrity rag mag. She never repeats an outfit more than once. Okay. So, where do I go for me and GG to sign up for the hand me downs?I bumped into this relatively old'ish pic of Angelina Jolie and Zahara with matching Valentino handbags which reminded me that I want to be adopted by a celebrity!
And lookey, there is a momgelina stalker site. For every A list celebrity, there are like one hundred stalker blogs. Glad to know I'm not alone. ha!And, I was pleasantly elated to see, Iris, Spice girl Mel B's daughter with Eddie Murphy sporting similar bantu knots or afro puffs GG's been wearing lately. Searching for this pic, I discovered that this is not the only blog that stalks black celebrity babies, but I believe this is one of the only ones or few that stalks their pregnancies! ha! Check out BlackCelebrityKids blog

in other BELLYITCH NEWS, sooner than they add another two hours to the 24 hour day, I plan to update my blogroll, reconfigure the blog and categorize posts into (1) GG related posts (2) Celeb stalker related posts and (3) Baby/pregnancy related tips. I'm also getting a new banner designed for my by EbonyMom, when she is less busy being the fab mom, photographer and all around web guru that she is.

weightloss wednesday

i don't remember my last weigh in but this morning i was pleasantly surprised that all the debauchery and eating that went on this past whirlwind week of 8 social events didn't put me back into the 150s. Today, i weighed in at 149.5lbs.

I'm back on track...yes AGAIN...., running, doing ballet, and taking dance classes. Yesterday, I discovered my local Bally's Fitness club had a special erotic dance class. I wasn't sure if I should've arrived in my wig, whip and patent leather hooker boots or work out clothes. ha! I opted for running pants and a t shirt and fit in well with the other four women. I cannot believe how hard strippers work man. My abs are still sore today. Dropping it like it's hot is a great work out. LOL!

anyhoo. I've discovered a non-invasive tummy tuck in Thermage treatments. There are several facilities that conduct this outpatient service in my area. So....as soon as I get down to my ideal size between 130 and 135, I'm going in for a consultation. While I'm there, I'm going to check to see if they can make all the varicose and spider veins in my legs and my stretch marks magically or laser-treatment-ally disappear!

Ahhhh Vanity and Narcissism, deadly sins indeed! Gonna get me a fab beach body yet. Have you seen the lastest pics of Christina Milian in a bathing suit circulating 'round the blogsphere??? SICK!
