She's 3 months old Today

and i'd swear she's teething already by the amount of drooling she does! too cute!

GG's Baptism

GG was welcomed to our church on Sunday. After the service, the family we invited to witness the event, including our very large extended family of God parents and relatives all gathered at our home for some food and conversationGG was hungry during the service, even though I fed her just before it and I kept having to disappear into the back hallway to nurse her. Unfortunately, she still wasn't satisfied because she continued to bawl and fuss the entire time and during the photo session afterwards. She only got quiet while being held by the Deacon and my mom! Go figure. Someone said she only respected authority. Hrmph. That's not a good sign. hahaha. More pics to come.

J Lo on Breastfeeding and Slimming down fast

surprise surprise. she chose not to breastfeed the twins, according to her in an interview with People magazine. Her choice. I'm getting good at this "not judging" thing.
I don't need to judge when there are others out there doing a pretty good job at it. :D

Specifically, J Lo espoused:
My mom didn’t breast feed and I think that was the thing for me. You read and figure out what’s the best thing for them"
And...she will be training for some super triatholon event, according to her, to "make her babies proud"...yeah yeah're just like me, who is training for a Marathon this October to LOSE BABY WEIGHT FAST...

A Baby Sixth Sense

I took GG to the babysitter's today so I could take the time to clean out the house in preparation for her Baptism on Sunday.

At some point, I got a feeling that she needed me and called the sitters, only to hear my sweet baby wailing in the background. Apparently, she is starving, but refuses to drink the formula from the bottle. *sigh*

So....rather than wait for her to get fed up and hungry enough to drink the bottle, because I am less than 5 minutes away from the sitters and have the luxury of time to sneak away, I am off to nurse her and then get back to my crazy stack of mess in the basement that needs straightening out.

...isnt' that interesting how that Sixth Sense kicks in ever so often!?!

weightloss wednesday

i must admit that the Easter gluttony of eating that went down at my house this weekend has got me fearful of stepping on a scale.

and did someone mention leftovers? my comfort food, macaroni and cheese casserole, sabotaged me for the past two days. It's a bit of a haze but I remember consuming some chocolate brownies, with ice cream dolloped atop. It's like I totally ignored the fact that I am trying to lose baby weight. And I finally was able to take a lil taste of spirits after fasting from it all Lent and well....we all know how that goes. *sigh*

to be continued. I will try to summon up the courage to file a report at the end of the

update: i am yet to get on a scale at 10:32pm EST, but i did find an online training program to follow for the Army 10 miler I plan to do in October. While I'm training for the Army 10 miler, I need to work up my nerve to go ahead and train for the full marathon specifically, The Baltimore Marathon which is 6 days later.

because i am a punk.... baby's face is quite scratched up...well, because i am a fraidy cat when it comes to clipping her tiny nails, her cheeks are bruised up with these tiny scratches that she's made herself.

I do have the baby safety clippers and nail file, but no matter how much I try and actually take the clippers to her tiny fingers, I chicken out!! Why am I such a sucker?!?! I've tried to take an easy way out and tried to bite and nibble the tiny nails because I'm thinking I can discern nail from skin with my teeth and mouth, but unfortunately, the nails remain sharp as claws. I am seriously afraid of taking off some of her skin. *sigh*

me thinks I'm gonna have to leave it to the babysitter/ supermommy/supernanny extraordinare to do it this Thursday.

It's pure mommy cruelty to keep her nails that long and allow her to scratch up herself, so old girly will be wearing infant mittens until Thursday!

Christina Alguilera's elective c-section choice

yeah...I'm still on my pregnant celebrity kick and just read Christina Alguilera say that she purposefully chose to deliver via c-section, which is so interesting to me considering I only wish I could have delivered at least one of my three children vaginally. hmmmm. She told People magazine:

I didn’t want any surprises,” she says matter-of-factly of her decision to deliver via scheduled C-section at week 37 of her pregnancy. “Honestly, I didn’t want any [vaginal] tearing. I had heard horror stories of women going in and having to have an emergency C-section [anyway]. The hardest part was deciding on his birthday. I wanted to leave it up to fate, but at the same time I was ready to be done early!”
Celebrities and their choices. They bewilder me, but to each his own. I am not a judge.

*straining to resist the temptation to judge*

celebrity baby magazine covers and what they make

Celebrity Baby Magazine Photo Covers and Spreads
Julia was one of the first to covet mucho dinero for pics of her twins Phinnaeus and Hazel. She reportedly got about a quarter of a million for her pics...
Tom and Katie Holmes gave away their photos for FREE!

Before J-Lo broke the record with upwards to $6 million, Shiloh fetched 4.1 million.

Meanwhile, OK magazine got a steal and paid merely a little over a half a million for pics of Gwen and 2 week old Kingston.OK Magazine lost their $2 million dollar bid for Brit and Kev's first baby pic to People magazine.OK will give Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn $1 million for the first pics of her child, which her mom negotiated shortly after finding out her teenage daughter was knocked up! yeah, down home family values. :D
Though Nicole only got 1 million for pics of her boy Max, her magazine sold more than Christina who was paid $2million and had a baby within a day and at the same hospital as Richie
Even B, C and D list celebs can make money...OK magazine paid Larry Birkhead $1.7 million for picture of Dannielynn, daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith
Tori Spelling got at least 6 figures for a cover of baby Liam

three observations about the new baby

1. her early sleeping habits are NOTHING like her older brothers! I have myself to blame because I have the luxury of being home and being able to stay with up her, BUT she totally does not like sleeping between the hours of 2:30 and 7am! What is that about? Even if I keep her awake for most of the day like that day we went to Stroller Striders, she still manages to wake up around the same time in the wee hours of the morn to hang out! I've got to figure out how to reprogram her STAT! And it is NOT colic because from what I know about colic, the babies are unconsolable and just cry nonstop. She can be consoled alright...she'll instantly STOP crying if you are ON YOUR FEET walking her. Good, right? What's the problem, right? Well...she'll wake up as soon as she realizes she is laying in a supine position!

I'm getting frustrated about missing all of the working morning hours and half of the afternoon catching up on sleep. When I get a good contract or can go back to work, I'm in trouble!

2. She is starting to look more and more like me these days. We had an active few days of being out and about and seeing friends. An overwhelming majority of them are pointing out that she is a "mini me" and they are talking to me when they say that. I know that babies will change who they look like from time to time until they finally settle into their own looks, and I am hoping she finally ends up looking like the hubby as the poor fellah simply wants an offspring to have his looks...and *sigh* far he's not getting his way.

3. She likes her new childcare giver. Yesterday, we met the woman who will watch her when I have to go out and can't tote her along. Like this week, I have to visit the accountants, the braiders, the dentist, a client and go to court and I certainly will need to have her watched. We're going with the woman who watched my middle child last summer before he started school. I have a good vibe and feeling about her and I did another home visit to make sure everything is still kosher. She has a little girl and a high-school aged boy who lives with her and her husband. And right away, I could tell that GG was cool with them as she did not fuss or cry in their arms as she is known to do when she does not like a person or being held a certain way.

I feel comfortable that the woman lives in a first floor apartment in a quiet quaint neighborhood 5 minutes away from us as I know if anything goes down, God forbid, she can leave pretty quickly and get out with my baby in tow. She does not have any other babies she will take care of, but I fear she may get another more lucrative gig and leave me out in the cold with no child care. Anyway, as soon as I get a job or a significant long lasting contract, I will hire an in home nanny.

I better get to pumping some milk. Oh gosh, I haven't had to do that since I gave birth as GG has been tied to my hip since then or supplemented on formula. I think I will send some bottles and a can of formula with strict instructions to give the baby the breastmilk first and use the formula in emergencies, if it runs out.

so there is such a thing as mommy brain

NBC did a report about it yesterday

Every time, I have a kid, I lose a piece or several pieces of my brain or memory, but I read another report and a couple of books that say, what we lose in brain function we gain in super human powers like.
  • being able to see behind our heads, and
  • knowing precisely when to walk up the stairs to find the toddler slathering vaseline all over his baby sister or
  • having a high tolerance for multiple sources of screaming emitting from one house.

weightloss wednesday: stroller striders

last week:157
this week: 156

I can't believe I've been successful netting a pound loss a week. Yay me!
So I am 11 lbs from my pre-preganancy weight, 21 lbs from my tight and toned best body weight and 31 lbs from my " Dude, you can't tell me nothing, drop dead super svelt" weight! haha!

A few thoughts about my first Stroller Striders Class:
  1. It's a good size of 8 or so women with children of varying ages between 6 weeks and 2 years and besides the fit and cute ultra petite instructor, I was the shortest one there with the MOST KIDS! yikes
  2. The attendees are of varying fit levels which is great b/c I fit right in between the uber fit moms sprinting with their jogging strollers and the just-getting-out-of-bed-after- delivering moms who are slowly getting active again.
  3. I was pleasantly surprised at how intense it was as I was sort of expecting pretty light fair. Because it was nice outside today, we had class outdoors. We ran for blocks, did killer abdominal exercises, climbed stairs, did squats, lunges, arm work outs with a resistance bands...all in ONE HOUR. In between and during, we sang children's songs to the kids while working out. I was stoked to realize I knew ALL THE SONGS!
  4. GG started to fuss half way into class and during those stationary exercises that didn't involve us pushing our strollers but the instructor who is 4 months pregnant with her third child helped by strolling and rolling her around. It worked well right up until the last 5 minutes of cool down and stretch, then she was a Wailing Wendy.
I met two other moms from my neighborhood one county over and found out about a mom's club in our town! cool huh?

After the class, GG and I took a trip to Starbucks and to my office to pick up mail. We then headed over to the Apple store in the mall to take my Ipod to the Apple doctors. The prognosis wasn't good. She has an Ipod cancer and would need to be put down. Now I have to fork over $150 for a new one!!! Figures! I'm not too upset at this result because I had won her in the first place for FREE in a contest drawing held at a reception me and friends snuck into that was held at The Wynn in Las Vegas ! So this would be my first time paying for her. Now that I'm running again, I'm going to need a working Ipod to get me through those long treks.
