yup. We're converts. We've drunk the Eebee Baby Adventures Kool Aid and the theory and concept which encourages learning through play and even goes as far as challenging The Mozart Theory (the concept that after listening to Mozart, test subjects do better on solving certain puzzles and get smarter). The Star Tribune, The Chicago Tribune and Coolmompicks.com also challenged the value of the Baby Einstein children videos and toys theory. So far, I know it's still early, but GG doesn't have much attention span with Little Mozart DVDs, though we still listen to the cds. (who knows, right?). In any event, we're loving and practicing the "learn through play" theory...er for now anyway. ha! Not sure that applies in later years though, but that is a topic of debate for another day.
From the Eebee website:
Babies will instinctively:
- Take initiative and act on their natural curiosity
- Make clear choices among different materials and experiences
- Vary their strategies and try different approaches
- Persist at a goal and stick to a task
- Share their discoveries and seek social interaction
These are the real basic skills of your baby's first years and these are the hallmarks of great thinkers and achievers. The research is clear that the best way for babies to grow and strengthen these skills—the skills they need to succeed in life—is to play.
Eebee is on demand on certain cable systems in the US, but not on Verizon Fios which we have boooo!!
